The Journey Beyond: Studies in Reincarnation and Life After Death
Still no new thoughts to offer, my friends - it's garden time, and I'm out getting my hands in the Earth. I hope all of you are well, and that everyone you love is doing well, too.
Just a few interesting links today about the subject of reincarnation - which always comes up whenever there is a discussion of death and afterlife. The most famous of cases, sponsored by a study done through the University of Virginia, is to be found in the James Leininger narrative. It doesn't, of course, conclusively prove reincarnation - we have no way of currently conclusively proving afterlife of any type inside our current framework of scientific understanding, but it certainly presents some convincing details that lead to more questions. Dr. Jim Tucker, who did a lot of the research and work related to Leininger's case, also wrote an article for UVA magazine of a similar nature. Worth reading.

Do we return again after our departure? Some research may support this theory. |
And here is some research that shows what we believe about reincarnation - rather than studies on cases that may actually represent it. Not sure that all of this is relevant, but there are some interesting ideas present within the read itself.
Ironically, but not altogether irrelevantly, these past life studies generally focus on children. Based on what I've read here, it is assumed that more children seem to exhibit "symptoms" of previous lives in the form of memories or senory experiences because they are "newer" and have been less integrated by their current physical and emotional environments. It appears that these memories and experiences may lessen over time, disappearing altogether quite frequently once the subjects reach adulthood.
Here is one resource, though, that does mention some past-life experiences as recounted by adults, though there is still present the children's research theme there as well. And this lead me to an older post on Deepak Chopra's site that asks the question we all want to know: if reincarnation is real, why don't we all remember past lives?
I've a few thoughts that are independent of these that I'd like to share, and I'll try to do so next week. I'm loving outside, though, so who knows where the days will take me?
Meanwhile, take care.
